The Haute New Perfume That Farozan Is Currently In Love With!

Imagine taking a leisurely stroll through a dew-soaked field of jasmine at the cusp of dawn? After that, you’re instantly and almost magically transported to a chaotic flower market bang in the middle of bustling Mumbai. Those riotously different experiences come together in harmonious coexistence with a bottle of Jo Malone Cologne Intense Jasmine Sambac & Marigold.

Inspired by Jo Malone’s Head Of Fragrance, Celine Roux’s journey through India, on experiencing this fragrance at its India launch, I must say, it’s a fitting homage to our country.

It’s easy to recognise the artistry encapsulated in a bottle of Jo Malone Cologne Intense Jasmine Sambac & Marigold – the unique yet elegant luxury associated with Jo Malone fragrances is apparent. One whiff and you’ll understand the restraint, love, and research that went into the final product.

My initial apprehensions of being assaulted by the intoxicating almost sickly sweet fragrance of jasmine were unfounded, instead I was surprised to find I mostly perceived the top notes of marigold and ylang ylang with only a subtle kiss of jasmine; it’s like the three flowers merged to create the most beautiful bouquet. After a while, Jo Malone’s Cologne Intense Jasmine Sambac & Marigold bloomed on my skin and transported me to memories of Bakhoor being burned at home, thanks to the delightful vanilla-esque base notes of Benzoin, which is known as Loban.

I must say, the Jasmine Sambac & Marigold is definitely a step away from the usual fragrances you encounter in the market. It features a delightful array of distinct ingredients that combine for an unusual, intriguing perfume that’s layered yet simple.

It’s not an OTT fragrance that’ll announce your arrival or induce headaches, it’s one of those rare finds that make their sophisticated, feminine, warm presence felt. I can easily imagine Indian brides picking it as their signature scent on their big day, a treasured olfactory link to happy memories.

A bottle of the newly launched, ultra-luxe Jo Malone Cologne Intense Jasmine Sambac & Marigold will set you back by Rs 7,100 for a 50 ml version and Rs 10,700 for a 100 ml. I would suggest you visit one of their stores, and give it a try. Trust me, you’ll be delighted.
