If there’s one article of clothing that Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele singlehandedly gave new life to in his debut runway show for Fall 2015, it was the pleated skirt. Gucci’s pleated skirts became an instant hit with the fashion crowd last year, and it’s continued to hold favour well into Fall 2016. Feminine, floaty, and with a big dose of retro 1950s elegance, this season’s pleated skirt iteration is all about full-on metallic glam and I have to say I’m in love.
The metallic midi pleated skirt is definitely calling out to my inner magpie, and it’s not hard to see why. Even our favourite B-Town celebrities — from Priyanka Chopra to Alia Bhatt — have been flaunting their A-game with a metallic skirt in tow. What’s more, it’s a versatile wardrobe piece that you can take from the boardroom to the bar with a few minor updates. And this holiday season, I’m all about multi-tasking wardrobe winners — because who has time to change in-between?

Which brings me to this covet-worthy silver piece from Zara that I just cannot get my eyes off of. It creates just enough flash for day-time glam thanks to the modest hem and floaty shape. And if you think this is hard to pull off during the day, think again. Pair it with a classic white button-down shirt and sneakers to tone down the flash, or even a graphic printed sweater to keep the chill at bay.
For the evenings, you can dress it up with an off-shoulder blouse, or a crop top that shows off just a hint of the midriff.
