Zahra Has Her Heart Set On These Pom-Pom Kolhapuris!

Zahra Has Her Heart Set On These Pom-Pom Kolhapuris!

Thanks to brands like Aquazzura and Sophia Webster, pom pom sandals have been all the rage for a few seasons now. And while we even did a really fun post on how to DIY your very own pair, there’s nothing quite like letting someone else do the hard work! And Spring/Summer 2016 collections across the board had boho chic elements of pom poms, embroidery, and beads in the accessories department, especially footwear. From posh high heels to budget-friendly strappy gladiators, I’ve been spotting all kinds of pom pom-embellished footwear all season. So much so, that I even copped myself a super cute pair from Zara.

The one thing I hadn’t seen before, though, were more desi styles. And considering I like my Indian ensembles to be relatively fuss-free and minimally embellished, I do like to dress them up with good accessories. Be it statement jewellery, or statement bags and shoes. And when I saw this pair from designer Aprajita Toor on Exclusively.com recently, I knew I had found my new favourite desi accessory!

Aprajita Toor Leather Kolhapuris

Firstly, I absolutely love Kolhapuri chappals. I’ve been wearing them in multiple colours and variations since college — where they were the perfect comfort footwear — right into work wear. It’s funny how these Indian slippers can work so beautifully with Western ensembles and add a touch of boho interest to any outfit. What’s more, they’re really versatile and work with everything from jeans and a tank, to culottes and midi skirts.

Aprajita Toor’s piece is so bright and colourful, I can totally see myself wearing it with a simple white and gold churidaar kurta for a day wedding. They would add such a fun element to the outfit. I can even see myself wearing them with a darker ensemble for the evening and letting these little babies do all the talking and stealing the show.
