Trend To Try: It’s All About The Powersuit
In the past couple of months we’ve seen the pantsuit make a tremendous come-back in the fashion world. With Hilary Clinton bringing the ‘Woman On Top’ androgynous style back, we’ve seen celebs such as Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha bring their female power awesomeness packed in their powerful pantsuits, aka the powersuit. Now, this pantsuit is so NOT the workwear kind we have seen in the ’80s and ’90s, with the loose-fit, unnecessarily high shoulder pads, and awkwardly drooping pants. NO. This is the slim-fit, lady-boss ensemble that clearly says “don’t you dare mess with me”! Obviously, fashion does evolve with time so just with a pop-of colour, a little bit of trend and swag, and the right accessories, the pantsuit is your perfect alternative to a dainty dress this party season. I mean, doesn’t it give you that ‘I’m a girl and I am powerful’, vibe?
A sudden change in women’s fashion, which was popularised by Yves St. Laurent, the pantsuit actually came to be post the iconic ‘Le Smoking Tuxedo’ in 1966. By doing so, women broke that stereotype form of feminine fashion and took a more masculine, or as we like to call it now, androgynous. So, since we are in the era of celebrating girl power and if this look is more your style, we’d suggest glamming it up and giving the powersuit a try this party season!
