Zahra Is Kickstarting The Party Season With These Statement Earrings
If you’ve been following jewellery trends in 2016, you’ll have have noticed that minimalist pieces like chokers and stackable rings have been all the flavour this year. And while they’ve been pretty much ruling our Instagram feeds for the most part, the new trend for 2017 will undoubtedly be dramatic, eclectic baubles that will please your inner magpie.
The go-to accessories for Spring 2017 are statement earrings, and boy are they making a comeback! Think sculptural styles and bright and beautiful danglers, that can amp up even the most basic outfits. And with the party season is well and truly upon us now, there’s no reason why you can’t indulge in this new season trend at the fag end of 2016.
I know I am!
If you know anything about me by now, it’s that I’m happiest in minimalist clothing and use jewellery pieces like a statement cuff or a pretty neckpiece to elevate my #OOTD. While my style is subtle, my jewellery is more adventurous. And that is why it was love at first sight the minute I spotted these Chalk Jewellery earrings on Cult Curators during one of my FOMO-inducing online shopping sprees.
Chalk is a London-based design studio run by architect Malaika Carr, who has a serious eye for creating unusual, geometric jewellery that’s anything but minimal. This intricate statement piece — influenced by architectural elements — is made from a mix of walnut wood and mirrored acrylic, with the bright blue and orange perfectly playing off the muted wood and sterling silver base. Her African heritage is boldly on display in the colourful cultural pattern that is not only bold, but seriously eye-catching.
Don’t let the size fool you though; these earrings are seriously lightweight. What’s more, they’re the perfect piece to elevate a chic and muted evening ensemble this party season. What’s more, it’ll work just as well on your favourite t-shirt and jeans combo too. Trust me, it’s not going to be hard to convince you to rock the oversized earrings trend this season with this chic pair from Chalk!
