The Slingback Wedges We Can’t Wait To Buy Right Now!

Chunky shoes have been all the rage this year. Dries Van Noten, Delpozo, Burberry Prorsum, Michael Kors, are just a few labels whose runway designs were chunky yet comfortable. Check the fashion week archives, and you’ll notice that the one shoe style which did gain all the compliments this time around were slingback wedges.

Like I mentioned earlier, the key to shoe trends this year has been comfort — slip-ons, sneakers, wedges, and the likes. But IMO, no pair of shoes is easier on the feet than a pair of wedges. Not only do they add height but they’re also always on-trend.

As part of my weekly ritual of scanning online sites for new arrivals, I came across this super chic slingback design by See By Chloé — the label’s answer to hip girl fashion. These super cool leather wedges have a slingback design and a suede-trimmed chunky heel that imparts all the necessary casual chic glam to the pair. You can either work your city girl charm wearing it with a pair of flared denims and a longline button-down shirt, or with an A-line suedette skirt and a boho top for a hippie chic vibe.

Sadly, when you look at the price point, it is a whopping 30k. Well, it’s Chloé, so what can you expect? But don’t lose heart, fashionistas… here’s where I exercise my extraordinary sleuthing skills. I found this pair by Charles & Keith that looks like a twin of this Chloé pair. Minus the suede trim, this Charles & Keith one is a lighter shade of brown (russet, actually), and is made of PU instead of leather. Also, it comes with a metal buckle feature. Nonetheless, given the price point, I think it’s a damn chic alternative to the See By Chloé pair. What do you think?
