Simi’s Steals: The Vintage-Inspired Dress
One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: Every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 3,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!
Think vintage clothing and words like classic and timeless instantly come to mind. Personally, I think it’s because nostalgia sells. And there’s a certain charm in things that are retro, and we find them appealing even when they’re modernised. Many designers borrowed from the old world, investing in vintage-inspired clothing for their Spring Summer 2016 collections. Be it Gucci’s sophisticated take on geek chic, Chloé’s sporty-meets-feminine feel, or even the hippie vibe at Giambattista Valli, the common thread between all these collections was a deeply vintage vibe. Personally, I love vintage clothing so I made it the memo for this week’s affordable head-to-toe ensemble.
I found this multi-coloured shift dress filled with abstract motifs on SR Store. It is simple in its flow-y silhouette and classic V-neck detail. Yet what adds to the vintage feel of the dress is the three-fourth bell sleeves and the tasseled trims on the tied-up detailing of the neckline. To keep to the vibe, I’ve accessorised this look with tasseled earrings. A pair of lightweight gold cuffs and tan open-toe flats with gold straps make for a perfect ensemble for a casual weekend.
