Simi’s Steals: Monochrome Chevron Separates
One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: Every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 3,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!
If you’re thinking about a play on geometric patterns, one print that’s pretty attention-seeking despite its simplicity is chevron. Spotted at Kenzo and Giambatista Valli’s Summer 2016 shows, this pattern is super feminine but can also be worn in a more sporty avatar, like at Anand Bhushan’s AIFW SS16 presentation. Personally, I’d wear a chevron outfit to a beach vacation; the print befits the sun and sea vibe. That said, you can also work it as the perfect outfit for a casual brunch. Or give it a classy spin for a date-ready look. Yes, it’s a notch above average stripes because of its zigzag pattern, but another reason to give the print a try is because it can create a slimming effect.
My key ensemble for this week: Chevron separates for that girl-next-door vibe. The pleated skirt teamed with a crop top in black and white from Closet Diaries is basic, yes… but it’s also a perfect summer outfit. The idea is to amp up the monochrome with a pop of colour. So I’ve teamed it up with a pair of red pumps from Intoto. A chic spiral gold bracelet from FemNmas completes the look. Oh and wait… did I mention this ensemble is all under Rs 3,000?
