Haute Or Not? Deepika Padukone And Ranbir Kapoor In Manish Malhotra
Every year, Manish Malhotra and Shabana Azmi host a fundraiser fashion show to raise money for Shabana Azmi’s Mijwan foundation, which focuses on the equal rights for women, and providing women with an education, jobs, vocational skill training and more, in order for them to build a life for themselves.
Manish Malhotra is known to be the designer who pioneered the concept of a showstopper in fashion shows in India, and ever since, there has been no looking back for him. He has had the biggest stars play muse and grace the ramp for him.
While Mijwan last year had none other than King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan walk the ramp along with Anushka Sharma, this time around it was Bollywood heartthrobs, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor walking the ramp for him.
Embroidery is often the focus of Manish Malhotra’s Mijwan showcase, as most of his embroidery and chikankari work is done in Mijwan, Uttar Pradesh, helping provide many women there with employment. Sticking to just that, he gave showstoppers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone outfits with intricate chikankari embroidery on it.
Ranbir walked the ramp in a white kurta which was layered with a black, velvet achkan style jacket that had bold, silver, floral embroidery on it. The pants, kurta and achkan jacket had a modern twist with athleisure style vertical stripes on the sides. Black oxfords and his beard rounded the look!
Deepika Padukone, on the other hand, wore a sheer blouse with bold crystal-like embellishments on it. The blouse also had an ivory trail attached to the shoulder that flowed down the back. The lehenga skirt had chikankari embroidery all over it along with a ruffled tulle hem. She styled the look with her signature sleek, side-parted hair, dewy makeup and tangerine lips. A pair of emerald and ruby drop earrings were the only accessory she wore.
Both of them are carrying these looks off very well, and they also always complement each other! What do you guys think of their looks?
