Payal Pratap’s New Prêt Line Is All About Understated Elegance
If you’re anything like the #HauteSquad, you do a happy little dance every time you get acquainted with a new label. We’ve got a scoop that the fashionista in you is going to thank us for. Designer Payal Pratap — known for her feminine, modern Indian clothing — has launched a new prêt label. Called Umbar, the new clothing line should be on your radar if you love sleek, tailored garments that are functional as well as stylish.
These daily wear essentials from Umbar perfectly amalgamate folksy embroidery with comfortable fabrics like cotton, silk, chanderi blends and georgette, among others. Targeted at women aged 25 to 50, Umbar’s debut collection consists of tunics and kurtas, dresses, crop tops, blouses, wide-legged pants and more.
While the aesthetic is very modern, Umbar’s beauty lies in its innate Indianness — the clothing is desi in its approach, but has a very contemporary vibe. This being the designer’s first foray into e-commerce, the line is priced affordably considering its designer lineage and exceptional quality.
Trust me when I say this: Umbar is an investment brand for women who want to shop smart; i.e. shop less but spend slightly more for garments that will stand the test of time and trends. Pratap plans to extend this eponymous line to accessories and bags as well, which will launch next month. Already this is set to become one of our go-to brands!
