Deepika Padukone’s Lehenga in Padmavati Song ‘Ghoomar’ Costs HOW MUCH?

Deepika Padukone’s latest SLB film Padmavati released its first song Ghoomar and we’ve literally fallen off our seats watching it. Wearing a red, black, and gold Rimple & Harpreet Narula lehenga, the actress twirled more than 66 times in the outfit that reportedly weighed a whopping 30 kgs, and cost approximately Rs 30 lakhs!

Yeah, you read that right; she was wearing the weight of an adolescent child while grooving gracefully!

And it doesn’t just stop there. Deepika also sported what looks like a tonne of jewellery — and it might actually be a tonne… ’cause we ARE talking about Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

As the song name suggests, Ghoomar is all about the twists and twirls. Seeing her dip, dunk, and swirl to the beats of the song in that super-heavy costume and jewellery has got us commending Deepika’s strength and dedication.

Costumes for the 12th century period movie was a challenge for designer duo Rimple & Harpreet Narula to create as there was no concrete historical research to fall back on. However, just through pure research about the era they were able to get a feel and direct their vision for the saga.

Tanishq, the brand that designed the jewellery for Padmavati moulded a breathtaking 400 kgs of gold for the film and it took around 600 days and 200 craftsman to do so!

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Deepika stated that shooting for this song was one of the most difficult sequences for SLB that she has ever done.

Seriously? After watching her garba it out in Nagada Sang Dhol wearing a gorgeous lehenga and strutting classically to the tunes of Deewani Mastani in that glittery gold ensemble, we can’t help but feel her pain!

But, to be entirely honest, that doesn’t surprise us one bit since it is a larger-than-life, extremely grand Sanjay Leela Bhansali production after all.

Padmavati is set to release on 1st December and we cannot wait to get more glimpses of this one!
