Who Is Your Spirit Animal At NH7 SHillong?

We’re all doing a little happy jig these days, because festival season is finally upon us. Think music, dancing, fun, and most importantly, lots of great street style. Don’t you love it when there’s so much happening and there’s a nice buzz in the air? One of my favourite festivals is NH7 Weekender, and this year it is debuting at one of India’s most fashion-forward hubs — Shillong. Frankly, I can’t wait to see all the street style Shillong will dole out. But before that… you’ve got to get your fash-side of the brain working, and that’s what I’ll help you out with.

It’s time to put all those hours of pinning “What To Wear To Coachella?” and “Music Festival Outfit Inspiration” to use now. Because well, you’ve got to put your best fashion foot forward before walking through those festival gates. Keeping in mind Shillong’s chilly weather, I’ve scouted through a number of online shopping sites and mixed and matched a number of products to finally figure out the Top Five Muses who can be your spirit animal at NH7 Shillong. So pick a style that works for you, and let your hair down and HAVE FUN!

THE BOHEMIAN BELLE

If edgy and eclectic is what defines you and you’re all about looking gypsy chic, this one’s your best pick. It’s no rocket science that florals never go out of fashion; so opt for a flowy floral skirt and team it up with a cropped camisole — a lil’ skin during the day to soak in some Vitamin D. Make an impression with tan ankle boots with side cut-outs and tassles at the back. When temperatures dip in the evening, whip out that chic leather jacket. Did you notice that you’ve just worked four trends in one look (florals, crop top, ankle boots and tassles)?

THE BLACK SWAN

Black is the new white… and all said and done, it’s the best colour to don for a festival. Go for an all-black ensemble; dress, bag, shoes et al, and add a hint of gold by wearing either a body chain or a gold cuff. Skip the floral headband (we’re done with that trend!) and opt for a cloth turban instead. Can’t find one? Just wrap your scarf as a headband and voila… you’re rocking 70s chic in style!

THE ROCK & ROLL REBEL

Take a cue from the stylish rockers of the 80s and transform your boring look to a rock and rolla chica. Leather pants (if not, PU ones work well too) look totally dope. Balance this matte bottom (and show some love to your fave artist) with a shimmer concert tee to rock the look. A pair of vintage sunnies, a fringed clutch and booties will help you work the punk goddess vibe to perfection.

MS. SPORTY CHIC

Hello, Tomboy! The one who likes to go easy with your look… this one’s for you. Put on those denim joggers and team it with a cropped sweatshirt (I’d say, something with a little shimmer or sequin to keep up with the party mood). Work a metallic backpack and a pair of sliders for your feet to complete the look. Not enough? I’d suggest you wear your hair into a high ponytail and add a baseball cap to rep the look perfectly.

THE DAISY DUKE GIRL

The leggy lass that you are, show off those hot legs wearing a pair of acid-washed denim shorts or skorts. But remember, as the temp drops you’ve got to keep it warm as well. So wrap up in a tribal-inspired kimono or a fringed poncho and cinch it with a belt; it adds to the fun factor of your overall ensemble. Work a pair of booties (frankly, there’s no shoe more comfortable than that for a music festival, where you’re traipsing for long hours and headbanging too) in tan or camel.  For the afternoons, don a floppy hat to protect yourself from harmful UV rays (also, it’s darn stylish and a music fest must-wear).
