5 Stylish Bollywood Actresses We’ll Be Stalking In 2016
As we usher in 2016, we’re making way for a new wave of style stars. Yes, there’s a fresh crop of stylish Bollywood actresses we’re going to be tracking this year, thanks to the potential they’ve shown in the sartorial department this past year. From owning trends to exuding immense confidence — and looking extremely comfortable while doing so — was what these celebrities have been all about in recent months. While some have established themselves in the industry, others are newbies that have shown high fashion prowess. And we’re betting that designers will also be counting on these five stars to gain some attention. So scroll on to find out who we’re touting as Bollywood’s style stars to watch in 2016. Here’s hoping they don’t disappoint!
1. Parineeti Chopra
There’s no doubt she’s got great screen presence, but the actress was often slacking in the style department. But post a sabbatical last year, she made headlines for her weight loss and newly-toned avatar. And it seems like there’s no stopping her now. Working a canary yellow Monisha Jaising gown at the recent Stardust Awards (pictured above) or a navy blue Manish Malhotra gown at the 2015 Elle Beauty Awards, Parineeti showed us that her new red carpet oeuvre is on fleek, as are her eclectic off-duty looks. We’ve got our eyes on you, Ms. Chopra!
2. Kriti Sanon
We’ve seen Kriti Sanon give us some consistent looks both on and off the red carpet in the last year. Not once have we noticed her playing safe in either the style, make-up or hair department. And an added advantage: she can really work the girl-next-door look working high street brands like Zara and H&M or affordable ones like Koovs as easily as the high octane glamorous ones. No doubt then that we’re betting she’ll give us a tenfold style file this year. We just hope it’s a mix of cutesy looks and experimental ones. Hope you’re listening, Kriti!
3. Aditi Rao Hydari
Our first celebrity style star post this year was about Aditi and her relaxed ethnic look in a Myoho ensemble. We did mention how she’s coming into her own, so no doubt that we’re looking forward to stalking her style this year. In 2015, she established her fashion presence on the red carpet, without disappointing us even once. Be it in a elegant white Samant Chauhan ensemble or a Gaurav Gupta gown at the GQ Awards, Aditi’s style has been pitch perfect. Her desi looks were equally on point (remember her Anand Kabra ensemble or even the Surendri outfit she donned at Masaba’s reception?
4. Athiya Shetty
Though a newcomer in the film industry, we love how Athiya Shetty worked the red carpet during the promotions of her debut film Hero. So much so, that we even proclaimed her as fashion’s new darling last year. From shimmery gowns to easy-going wrap dresses and whimsical Elie Saab gowns, we’ve seen Athiya try them all. Being styled by one of the industry’s best (stylist Ami Patel) certainly helps. We’re sure Athiya’s going to make us swoon with her sartorial choices this year as well.
5. Nimrat Kaur
While this was slightly unexpected, we’re glad Nimrat Kaur made it to this list. She was certainly an interesting style fixture last year, and we like how she’s given us major style goals with her easy, grown-up glamour. This stunning actress has been spotted working an off-shoulder Sharnita Nandwana gown as effortlessly as a flattering Zara crossover jumpsuit. We’re crossing our fingers here: Nimrat’s going to be having a stellar year both on and off the big screen!
