Check Out Who Stole The Show At The Met Gala 2016

When most of the world was experiencing Monday blues, a slew of celebrities were busy blending fashion with technology at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala 2016. Themed Manus X Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology, the Met Gala 2016 proved yet again that it’s THE occasion where fashion’s wildest dreams come true. (Did you SEE Claire Danes’ glowing Cinderella-esque dress?!)

In fact, it’s a time of the year when celebrities not just make headlines but also singlehandedly shape trends that you (may or may not have) expected them to. See last year’s “naked dress” trend, for example. Be it displaying their boldest avatar ever, or even taking a detour from what would seem like their regular on-duty look at the red carpet, we’ve got to thank the Met Gala for giving us some of the best sartorial looks in the fashion world. And this year’s extravaganza was no different. Given the theme, we were bound to see some futuristic and edgy creations in metallics.

Scroll on to see who stole the show this year:

Kendall Jenner worked an Atelier Versace sheer cut-out gown in blue and white which had a halter neckline.

We were taken aback by Taylor Swift’s never-seen-before avatar. She sported a punk-meets-futuristic Louis Vuitton ensemble.

My, my! Beyonce Knowles was seen in an embroidered latex Givenchy dress that she accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

That butterfly brooch at the waist was a nice addition to Saoirse Ronan’s custom Christopher Kane gown.

Kylie Jenner made her debut at the gala wearing a fringed and beaded Balmain dress.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked statesque in a Ralph Lauren one-shoulder gown with a thigh-high slit.

In a Prabal Gurung floor-length white gown with a black train, Emily Ratajkowski pulled off such a sleek and chic look.

Freida Pinto wore a custom-made Tory Burch column gown.

Kate Hudson looked stunning in a strapless Atelier Versace gown.

If anyone could totally pull off this robot-inspired look, it was supermodel Jourdan Dunn. She wore a semi-sheer silver Balmain gown.

I loved Emma Watson’s interpretation of the theme: her Calvin Klein outfit was made out of recycled plastic bottles. Talk about sustainable fashion technology!

Karlie Kloss took to the red carpet in a Brandon Maxwell cut-out gown.

Zendaya’s entire look screamed shimmer and shine, as she donned a one-shoulder, custom-made Michael Kors outfit.

Kristen Stewart wore a embroidered black silk dress from Chanel.

It was all glitzy glamour for Naomi Watts, who looked lovely in a metallic Burberry gown.

Emma Stone gave off a fierce vibe in a white Prada gown with a silver corset embellished with floral accents.

We seriously didn’t expect this, but Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik were inseparable on the red carpet last evening. Gigi was spotted in a Tommy Hilfiger gown, while Zayn gave us some futuristic vibes wearing robot arms.

Just one word for Hailey Baldwin in that Tommy Hilfiger number: WOW!

Balmain loyalist Kim Kardashian worked a sequinned gown from the label. She kept her slick look intact.

Just when we thought we missed Cara Delevingne on the red carpet, the model’s sister Poppy Delevingne made up for it looking stunning in a bejewelled Marchesa gown.

And I’ve saved the best for last! Claire Danes channeled some serious Cinderella vibes in a powder blue Zac Posen gown that had fiber optic lights built into the organza fabric. Now if that isn’t a winning look, I don’t know what is!
