Editor’s Pick: Zahra’s Fringed White Sneakers
With the new year comes a whole new wardrobe, but some staples just never go out of style. And for me, that one staple has to be a chic pair of pristine white sneakers. Not too long ago, I’d curated a list of the best white sneakers from across high street and luxury brands for girls with all kinds of budgets. The point is ladies, the “normcore” trend may have vanished as quickly as it came into vogue but I’m still holding on to my white sneakers, thank you very much.
And there’s a darn good reason for holding on to — or investing — in a new pair of white kicks. They go with just about everything in your wardrobe. For 2016, I’m all about investment pieces. Be it a classic pair of Stan Smiths or Superstars from my favourite sneaker brand, or the more expensive variety from the cult Common Projects, there’s nothing better than a pair of brand new sneakers that spell both comfort and style. Of course, our favourite high street brands never fail to delight with their take on easy chic trends, and this new launch from Mango is my current favourite pair. Minimalist, sporty and versatile, it goes with every kind of outfit.
These chic leather sneakers come with a rubber sole and detachable fringe appliqué that you can easily take off if you’re not feeling too fancy. Interestingly, they have a lip-shaped contrasting red panel at the back that almost has a Charlotte Olympia Kiss Me Sneakers hangover, which is one of the reasons why I noticed them in the first place.
I think this is a great pair to add to your new year wardrobe and since the weather here in Mumbai is still slightly cool, it’s something I can transition from winter to summer with ease. Worn with a neutral sweater and a midi skirt, or ripped boyfriend jeans to breezy dresses, it’s truly casual chic at its best. Thanks to their inherently relaxed elegance, they really do go with all kinds of looks.
Comfortable, affordable and patently unfussy — what’s not to love about them?
