The Masaba Gupta Jacket All Glamorous Girls Will Want
Last year (early November to be precise), we witnessed one of fashion’s most decadent and talked-about collaborations — Balmain X H&M. When the French luxury brand teamed up with the Swedish fast fashion retailer, the industry was excited (and curious) about what the collection would look like. Prominent faces like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Jourdan Dunn were rooting for it, and so it wasn’t hard to guess that the #HMBalmaination movement was about to be one of a kind. Proof? The limited edition products from this collection sold out within hours, both online and in stores. That’s when it was clear that those who hadn’t swiped their credit cards to own these pieces lost out on the next big fashionable gig. Think nineties flair posing with all things modern, add to that the lushness of luxe, and then try telling me what’s not to LOVE about this collection.
And just when we were wondering why no one was sporting a Balmain X H&M outfit (the last time we spotted one was on Jacqueline Fernandez at the H&M India Launch), designer Masaba Gupta Mantena gave us a reason to rejoice. The designer nabbed the top spot on our Best Dressed List this week thanks to a super elaborate piece from this collection styled in her laid-back, easy chic manner. Remember the jacket Kendall Jenner wore for the collab’s ad campaign? Masaba Gupta wore the exact Balmain X H&M beaded and embellished jacket to the recent Elle Graduates 2015 event, which she teamed with a black wrapped skirt and crop top. She finished her look with a pair of white slip-ons.
As far as I’m concerned, I quite like the styling. It’s comfortable and stylish, and who doesn’t love an idea like that? That jacket had all the drama required to amp up the otherwise sober look. Also, that’s a neat blend of sporty and feminine, don’t you think?
Like her look as much as we do? Here’s how you can recreate Masaba Gupta’s outfit:
