The Padded Cape Blazer Aindrila’s Ready To Flaunt
Let’s get real. If you’re a Mumbai dweller, there’s really no winter wardrobe you require, per se. But does that ever stop us from getting out the boots and the sweats? Definitely not. So for those not-so chilly days and nights, when you’re still itching to layer up, a light blazer comes to your rescue. Whoever said style and comfort are mutually exclusive definitely needs a lesson or two when it comes to fashion.
As far as I’m concerned, I love my layers. Even if that means beating the heat from my cover-up. I have a closet full of bombers, blazers, and cardigans; and TBH, I’m not letting them die out on me by just sitting in my wardrobe throughout the year. So the one-week-winter that we enjoy in the city is the time to go all out with your layers.
This padded cape blazer from Forever 21 caught my attention at first glance. First, it’s black (what’s not to love, right?); second, the silhouette is fluid, which I completely love because it’s easy going and, at the same time, has a formal vibe to it (if you’d like to look lit at the board meeting); and finally, it’s so totally affordable.
What I particularly love about this blazer is also the fact, that unlike the structured blazers that are run-of-the-mill, this one has an edgy style statement with the vest underlay and the long sleeves. The light padding on the shoulders helps in giving this closet essential structure, so it doesn’t look clumsy and ill-fitted.
Made of polyester, I’d team this lightweight blazer with a shift dress and bluchers for that all-important client meet this year.
