Boi’s Budget Buys: The Funky Appliqué Jeans
One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!
Appliqué has been doing the rounds of the fashion circuit lately, and for good reason. Alia Bhatt’s recent outing in an cat applique Aniket Satam dress and Esha Gupta’s applique shirt + wrap skirt ensemble pretty much broke the internet. This trend, that somehow reminds us of our childhood, is one you have got to try — easy, fun, and statement-making. What’s not to love?
If you’re a comic lover at all, then you’ll love Zara’s new Comic Meets Denim range. From Wonder Woman biker jackets to Miss Piggy sling purses, this collection has us all googly-eyed. Like they say, not all superheroes wear capes. I picked out my favourite piece from this collection — the Wonder Woman applique stone-washed jeans — for this week’s budget look. The denims are straight-fits, which means they suit pretty much any body type, and are slightly cropped, which means you can pair them with just about anything from boots and strappy heels to sneakers and flip flops. Ergo, total win.
Paired with these uber-funky bottoms is a white tie-waist shirt I personally have my eyes on. The wrap detail instantly ups this basic staple into a cool, even sexy must-have. Accentuate those curves by tying it around a little tighter, we say! Since it cinches at the waist, the shirt perfectly offsets the straight-cut jeans, giving your look a structured definition. The black wedge Oxfords give you some height and posture and, let’s face it, ties in beautifully with this edgy look.
If you’ve been reading Hauterfly long enough, you know how much the #HauteSquad loves bright pops of colour — and that’s exactly what this printed sling does. This one kinda sorta reminds me of Andy Warhol’s vision of Marilyn Monroe… et tu?
So there you have it. A fresh, young, uber stylish look you can take pretty much anywhere — work, date night, bar, or brunch. Tell us where you’ll wear it — we want to see the pics!
