Boi’s Budget Buys: Summer Blues
One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!
During summer in India, one does whatever it takes to stay cool, which is a task in itself. What fabrics do you wear that won’t stick to you like second skin? What colours will make sure the sun itself is not setting your panties on fire? What kind of drape will allow for some breeze to get through on a still, stiff summer afternoon? During summers in India, these are questions of life and death…of national importance, if you may.
My theatrics aside, you really do need to give a lot of thought to what you’re wearing during this season so that you don’t melt into a puddle, and actually can look good while you’re at it. Which is what I’m trying to do week on week on this column (and in my life).
So this week, I’m going blue because it gives off a pretty cool vibe, no? Keeping it airy and breezy, I’ve picked out these The Jodi Life wrap trousers and paired them with this frilled tank top from Koovs. Not only is it a summer-friendly combination, but the print-on-print here works like a charm.
Keeping the theme of the look ethno-fusion, these slip-on ikat juttis from Fizzy Goblet tie in the look quite appropriately, while being perfect for the summer heat. Add on the simple and functional sling bag and a pair of jhumkis (my obsession continues), and your entire summer-friendly, boho-chic ensemble is ready! Voilà!
What works for this look is that it ties in trendy, fashion-forward elements with great comfort and an easy-breezy vibe. What else could you possibly want from your summer wardrobe?
So I’m off to cool off in this light, fun look. Send me your weekend selfies, y’all. And see you next week for another budget look. Toodles!
