Boi’s Budget Buys: The Cool Geek-Chic Vibe

Boi’s Budget Buys: The Cool Geek-Chic Vibe

One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!

Joggers were never really my thing — I wasn’t the biggest fan of its fit because I’ve always preferred slimmer, more fitted silhouettes. Until, of course, I saw this video. As I watched this video being made, I started falling in love with the style. By the time it went live, I was a convert.

The cool thing about joggers is that there are just so many different was to style them — casual brunch; workout hour; girls’ night out; date night — name the occasion and you can slip into a pair of joggers. It all boils down to what you wear with it and how you carry it off.

This week, I decided to go with androgynous meets sexy meets geek chic. Confused? Scroll on.

You know what’s great about these Zara joggers? They are perfect for summer. Denim is usually a big no-no during this season, so what you need, not just to look cool, but feel it too, are light fabrics and easy fits. Enter the jogger. Khaki is one of those shades that never goes out of style so you’ll be comfy and trendy — win-win!

Paired with the muted khaki is this bright orange (can’t help it, I love meself some orange!) tank top from Ajio. Again, it comes in a light, polyester fabric with a relaxed fit. Nothing sticking to your body when beads of sweat are already trickling down it.

The heels are what add an edge to this otherwise casual look. Firstly, strappy sandals with the anti-fit of joggers immediately up the whole look. And these super haute ones from Koovs are especially cool because of the cut-out details.

In terms of accessories, there are more surprises with this look. A chunk two-toned silver neckpiece, like this one from New Chic, adds a grungy-boho vibe to the look, don’t you think? IMHO, adding a touch of desi to anything you wear instantly makes an ensemble second-look worth.

I’ve kept the bag simple with this Mango sling with gold chain detailing. It helps tone things down.

And finally, my favourite part of the look — these kickass frames from Vincent Chase. Can you say geek chic? Whether or not you have a number, you can totally rock these frames — prescription lenses or clear ones.

I mean, even our fave celebs are doing it nowadays — did you see Sonam Kapoor‘s latest look? I’m all for glasses, especially on those days when I just don’t want to put on my damn lenses!

So what do you think of this week’s, if I may say so, funky look? Hit me up on Twitter @Chat_Boi or write to me in the comments below! Have a super weekend, y’all!
