Editor’s Pick: Bushra’s Kickass Running Shoes

Editor’s Pick: Bushra’s Kickass Running Shoes

If you know me well, you’ll know that I’m a fitness enthusiast. I watch fitness-related videos with the same religious zeal as beauty videos, and studiously read on which celebrity is following the latest fitness fads. That’s how dedicated I am! However, while I wouldn’t call myself a lazy slob, I definitely lack the determination to regularly push myself out of bed in the mornings and go for a run; I blame that completely on me not being a morning person. Even though my old man extols the benefits of a morning workout, I have never warmed up to it.

I found that working out in the evenings was more my thing, until I got bored of the gym. But going for a walk or a run in the evening around the place I live is nothing short of a health hazard. Living in a city where less than 0.52 per cent of land is dedicated to public parks or gardens, I’ve seen a lot of people jog on the streets — which is sort of ok if you don’t live right next to a huge flyover. I don’t think a walk where I’m constantly trying not to come under the wheels of cars, trucks and buses would have any therapeutic effect on me. I would be a bundle of nerves, if nothing else.

All in all I have no option but to grumble, and groan and literally throw myself out of the house in the mornings. If the lovely weather wasn’t cruel enough (I’m a firm believer of spending winter mornings in bed under my heavy quilt with my cat snuggled around my legs), my shoes have been giving me a lot of grief lately. I’ve been wearing them for some time now, suddenly though my feet — especially my toes — feel cramped in them and get horribly sore and inflamed after taking them off.

Asics Women’s Running Shoes Gel-Kayano 22

I’ve been on the lookout for some good running shoes, which brought me to Asics. I’m not particularly finicky about my workout shoes because here comfort and functionality mean more than aesthetics. The only thing I am particular about is the colour. I don’t like the fact that most women’s shoes are white or some horrid neon shades which makes me want to gouge my eyes out. I like dark, solid colours. I was drawn to the lovely marsala colour of these running shoes; that and the gel cushioning.

The Gel Kayano 22 looks comfortable and snug. It’s supportive without being heavy or bulky. The jacquard mesh on top gives it breathability. The construction of its forefoot is such that it offers flexibility from the heel to the toe. The FluidRide midsole offers enough cushioning and reduces the stress on joints and tissues while you run. All in all, this is a kickass product and that makes me wanna kick some ass!
