Anushka Moore’s Guide To New Year’s Eve Party Dressing
It’s the most wonderful time of the year — giving and receiving brightly-wrapped presents, hosting and attending get-togethers with friends and family, and popping bubbly like its going out of style. Don’t even get me started on how it instantly lifts my mood to see tinsel and glitter in every shop window — I’m a sucker for this season!
My favourite part, however, is bringing the festivities into my closet. And what better time to display your most vibrant, iridescent self than on New Year’s Eve? Whether you’re planning an exciting mini-cation with your man, a night out of town with your girls or a sophisticated but low-key dinner with your family, I’ve put together a few great outfit ideas to help you on your way in case you’ve developed a styling block (it’s totally a thing — I checked).
Look #1: Sequin Maxi Dress + Flats
Remember last year’s little black bodycon number you spent a whole month’s paycheck on, only to discover you could barely breathe or sit in it? What’s worse, your friend’s cousin’s girlfriend had the same one on. Since you’re older (and hopefully wiser) this year, opt for a sparkly maxi dress and spare yourself the pain. It’s glamorous enough to be paired with flats while still looking dressy. A jacket thrown over will keep your shoulders toasty in the winter chill and you, my friend, will be the most comfortable yet glamorous gal at the party. #Win!
Look #2: Metallic Skirt + Pastel Crop Top
Not feeling up to pushing through crowds of dancing, sweaty strangers and screaming into your BFF’s ear? I feel you. This outfit is perfect for a classy soirée with your friends and family, making sure you start the New Year with grace and style. A pastel top is the perfect understudy to a metallic skirt when teamed with feminine accessories and flirty hints of bling.

Look #3: Culotte Jumpsuit + Statement Clutch
Anybody who knows me knows I adore a good jumpsuit. They look fantastic on every body type, which is a plus when you want to feel like your most confident self on the most glamorous night of the year. The culotte silhouette and subtle sparkly pattern instantly elevate this little number from your average black jumpsuit. Team it with a bag that brings out its barely-there gold notes
Look #4: Lace Dress + Standout Heels
To me, nothing feels more sexy, festive or just plain right as burgundy at this time of year. So instead of opting for a standard LBD and blending in with the rest of the girls in the room, stand tall and proud in an Oxblood knee-length dress. A guaranteed head-turner, this baby pops even more with a little tone-on-tone play. So pick a pair of heels in exactly the same colour to make your legs look longer, your dress look fiercer and the hottie in the corner make his way over to you just in time for the New Year countdown!
Look #5: Embellished Jacket + Playsuit
A look-at-me jacket teamed with an outlandish clutch might be too bold for some, but when tied together by a neat, structured white playsuit, the echoing colours and contrasting textures work. I’d leave out any jewellery with this outfit to really let the jacket and bag have their moment in the spotlight. The new year is all about exploring, discovering yourself and taking risks so push your limits with this gorgeous outfit — I promise you won’t regret it! #TrySomethingNew
