Alia Bhatt Is Not Over The Slip Dress Trend Yet!

Alia Bhatt Is Not Over The Slip Dress Trend Yet!

The news that shook the entire world over the weekend was the official announcement of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s engagement. While rumours were rife that Nick proposed to our desi girl in London on her birthday, this year, the plot was given away when Nick Jonas was snapped at the airport with Papa Jonas and Mama Jonas, carrying a Tiffany & Co. bag.

The couple had an intimate pooja and roka ceremony in the day, and then partied the night away thereafter. The guest list for the evening party was limited as well. One of the few privileged celebrity attendees was Alia Bhatt, who was invited to celebrate this union.

This engagement party was unlike most “shaadi” events; the dress code was not OTT and desi, but relaxed, dressy evening wear. Alia was seen wearing a slip-style Cinq à Sept ruffled maxi dress. The strappy dress had a lace trim around the neckline, and a star and moon print along the dress.

While the top half was pretty simple, the bottom half was where the drama was. The dress had asymmetrical ruffles on the hem along with a side slit and a chiffon trail that flowed on the back.

A pair of clear strappy sandals, along with  a Stella McCartney sling bag and casually tousled hair rounded her look. The choice of dress was great, apt for the occasion and Alia carried it off very well. The shoes, hair and makeup work too. The bag, however, was a bit of a Debbie Downer in this fab look. Other than that, everything else works.

Our verdict: Haute!

In case you too had a deja vu moment seeing this dress, and are wondering where else you have seen it. This very dress was what Janhvi Kapoor wore in her first ever issue of Vogue.
