#AIFWSS17 Day 1: Three Trends We Are Totally Crushing On

As you might be aware, Amazon India Fashion Week SS17 kicked-off last evening and we’re already swimming in an array of fashion fabs. Day 1 of fashion week saw showcases from designers such as Rina Dhaka, Samant Chauhan, and Krishna Mehta, to name a few. The opener to AIFW SS17 was called ‘Road To Chanderi‘, which was a tribute to the silk cotton textile, with various designers showcasing their work — ending with Aditi Rao Hydari wearing a Sanjay Garg ensemble.

As much as we really loved the variety each show had to offer, there was one (actually three) things that stood out for us. Fashion cues you can definitely incorporate into your everyday wardrobe! Check out which three trends caught Hauterfly’s eye on Day 1 of AIFW SS17.

NATURE INSPIRED PRINTS

Beautiful Grecian-Indian fusion influences in Samant Chauhan’s collection brings out the elegance of nature with clean silhouettes and prints. Florals also seemed to be make a strong statement at Krishna Mehta’s show, with the use of detailed appliqués on multi-coloured belted saris and jackets. And Rina Dhaka’s gorgeous use of florals, as well as animal figures on the textiles just added on to the aesthetics of the ensembles.

Day 1 AIFW SS17 Trend Sheer_Hauterfly

SHEER FABRIC

Don’t we all want a little bit of sheer in our life? However, we do tend to tone it down when making it a part of our daily wear. The bold use of sheer with some pieces on Day 1 at AIFW had the right amount of peekaboo, without being OTT. We’ve seen a lot of sheer play in tops in the past; this season takes the trend bottom down with transparent pants.

VIBRANT COLOURS

It was all about splashing colour this time around, where designer Krishna Mehta presented vibrant saris with jackets and elegantly draped gowns. The ‘Road To Chanderi‘ showcase also had a couple of pieces that brought out the richness of deeper colours, with Payal Pratap’s ginham sari and Gaurav Jai Gupta’s rainbow sari.
