8 Hot Trends To Try From Amazon India Fashion Week A/W 2018

For many February and March may be the month of love, and the beginning of spring-summer, but for us, they are the months of some heavy-duty fashion. After the fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, it was time for design geniuses back home to display their Autumn Winter 2018 collections at the Amazon India Fashion Week that took place in the capital city.

Most fashion weeks have one common result: they leave us inspired! Care to find out the trends we’ll be sporting throughout autumn winter this year? We studied the trends presented at the fashion fiesta and here is a look at the 8 trends we think are a hit:

1. Ruffles

For those who love dramatic, voluminous feminine fashion, it is time to rejoice, as ruffles are huge this season!

Gauri and Nainika’s collection was a dreamy burst of ruffles and tulle. The showstopper piece of Gauri and Nainika’s Autumn-Winter collection was a dreamy white concept gown that featured an exaggerated ruffled top with a deep neckline, and sheer tulle skirt over of a pair of white shorts.

Namrata Joshipura too presented a futuristic collection, and one of her statement pieces was a bright pink layered jacket.

Whether it is a frilly top, a dramatically layered jacket or just a ruffled hem on the sleeve, this winter amp up the drama with ruffles!

2. Metallic

Metallic is a trend that has been around for a while now, but this winter it’s stronger than ever! Shivan and Narresh’s collection featured sarees and gowns in metallic tones and hues of champagne, with 3D metallic appliqué.

Namrata Joshipura’s futuristic collection too featured fluid metallic fabrics in structured silhouettes.

3. Hues of Pink!

While Pantone did declare UltraViolet to be the colour of the year, it seems Fuchsia and hues of pink was the colour that ruled the runways.

Bipasha Basu was seen walking down the ramp in a Fuchsia pink Karishma Deepa Sondhi lehenga. Però too ditched their usual monochromatic Autumn-Winter collection for a pink and coral runway.

4. Plaid

If there is one winter staple you need to stock up on, it has to be plaid. The runway saw Abraham and Thakore, Sahil Aneja and more incorporate plaid in fresh and intuitive ways this season. Even Però included Scottish tartan in their collection.

5. Military

Speaking of uniform dressing, another uniform that has made it to the runways is the military look. The military styles spotted on the runway varied from hues of army green, camo print, badges used as patchwork on outfits, strong shoulders and crisp silhouettes. From Abraham and Thakore to Nought One, and Shivan and Narresh, many designers showcased military-inspired looks on the runway.

6. Double-breasted jackets

Double-breasted blazers and jackets are classic, masculine, and look great when done right. While the single-breasted jacket is more conventional, the double-breasted jacket has taken a fresh turn and can be worn as a tuxedo style dress, a cropped jacket or a plaid blazer.

7. Bold Oriental Prints

Korea and Japan ruled the beauty industry in 2017, and in 2018, they are inspiring our fashion designers! Bold oriental prints from countries in the Far East were seen on the runway this season. Leaving the conventional floral prints behind, sarees got a makeover with bold phoenix and bird prints as well as oriental floral prints.

8. Baker Boy Hats and Berets

Say hello to the trendiest accessory on the block this season; baker boy hats and berets. From John Galliano to Chanel and Prada, it’s made appearances on many runways, and Amazon India Fashion Week was no exception as young designers, such as Vineet Bahl and Pallavi Mohan, had baker boy hats and berets in their collection.
