1 Piece, 3 Ways: The College T-Shirt Edit

1 Piece, 3 Ways: The College T-Shirt Edit

It’s that time of the year when your alarms and your brains are swiped back on — because you’re headed back to college. While beginning your new academic year may seem daunting, it is also equally exciting.

But starting college also means saying goodbye to the sleep-ins, lazy mornings, and of course, late nights, along with saying hello to the rat race — assignments, college fests, extra circulars, social life…ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

When you already have so much on your mind, planning your wardrobe every day becomes a distant memory after a point. Remember the good ol’ days where wearing a uniform to school was such a pain? Well, let’s just say it was a blessing wrapped in a hideous disguise.

Deciding your outfits every single day can be hassle, especially when there are college dressing rules involved. When you pretty much need to exclude everything remotely stylish from your wardrobe, dressing up isn’t as much fun.

One staple that you can wear and which has probably been lying in your closet, is a basic t-shirt, with a fun (non-controversial) slogan. A t-shirt can effortlessly swing from casual chic, to sporty luxe, to a classic look.

Scroll down to see how you can style one t-shirt in 3 different ways for the college days when you cannot be bothered to dress up.

The t-shirt used in this edit is available at Koovs.

1. The Classic Cut

Nothing is better than taking a classic, and twisting it to trend. This t-shirt can be paired with your favourite jeans, skinny or boyfriend (you can skip the ripped or distressed part), and some slides. Accessorise with cute little wrist trinkets that you may already have, and carry a fun printed tote.

If you want to style it up a little more, then either tuck in the t-shirt and put on a slim belt, or take the end of your t-shirt and tie it up in a knot on the side.

2. The Boho Edit

Want to add a little boho to your ensemble? All you have to do is bring a self-coloured beach maxi dress and wear your t-shirt on top of it. Take the side of the t-shirt and tied it in a cute, little knot, and scrunch the bottom. Adjust neckline accordingly.

Slip on a pair of thong sandals and pin on some jhumkas to add that ethnic touch to it. Replace your satchel with a colourful jhola bag, which will look super stylish and function as a great carrier for your books too.

3. The Sporty Luxe

Like wearing joggers and leggings? Well, this is a great way to pull it off with style on a college day. Take your t-shirt and wear it with a comfy pair of joggers. Tuck in one side of the t-shirt to make it appear less baggy. Accessorise with a choker or necklace to add a feminine touch to your ensemble.

Slip on a pair of your favourite sneakers, VANS or Converse, and throw on a backpack. See, this look is comfortable, has a high style quotient, is college appropriate, AND is totally functional on a busy day.
