India Couture Week ’17: A Look At Varun Bahl’s Poetic Couture Collection

Varun Bahl’s latest showcase seamlessly blended contemporary art with elegant textures, to create an almost dream-like visual.

Taking inspiration from Chezh Art Nouveau, painter and artist Alphonse Mucha, Bahl uses influences from masterpieces such as the Le Pater, The Seasons, and The Flowers in order to achieve that perfect balance.

The collection has the designer’s signature traditional boho elements, with neo-classical motifs, and the pieces play with asymmetric lines and linear patterns.

The colour palette being an interesting choice of ivory, peach, pale pink, pistachio, red, burnt orange, and old rose, each piece was a visual dream thanks to the textiles, and intricate detailing.

From lehengas, sarees, jacket anarkalis, to tailored pieces, the fabrics involved in bringing his poetic art to life were silk, tulle, and georgette — and they all did justice to each and every design!

With vintage florals against the backdrop of classic cut silhouettes, and Art Nouveau-inspired elements, Dream Nouveau recreated magic with each of its designs on the runway!
