#AIFWSS17 Day 2: We Are Absolutely Loving The Neutrals

#AIFWSS17 Day 2: We Are Absolutely Loving The Neutrals

Day 2 of Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’17 was dedicated to textiles and textures in palettes of neutral hues — we totally approve. With clean and crisp silhouettes carried off by models wearing a whole lot of blacks, whites, greys, beiges, and blues, the range of neutrals are what caught our eyes. Showcasing their collection on Day 2 were designers like Payal Pratap, Abraham & Thakore, Anavila, Urvashi Kaur, Rajesh Pratap Singh and Ashish N Soni, Gaurav Jai Gupta, and Virtues By Viral. If I were to pick on a star trend of the day, it would have to be the textured use of these subtle colours — whether it was the boxy androgynous silhouettes created by Rajesh Pratap Singh and Ashish Soni, or Payal Pratap’s modern ethnic take.

This season’s collection played around with colourful textures through crochet and signature embroidered threadwork in white, blue, and beige-ish browns.

ANAVILA

This showcase was a collection of simple and elegant linen sarees, dhoti pants and anti-fit silhouettes. The patchwork and checkered prints are what stood out in Anavila’s collection.

ABRAHAM AND THAKORE

Working with khadi as the textile, Abraham and Thakore’s collection swerved in a slightly different direction with the use of monochromes in this collection. Besides having black and white as the main colours, we saw slithers of gold and silver on the differently-draped sarees.

Let me be honest with you, this collection on Day 2 has to be my favourite for the day. The clean silhouettes and neutral colours, in organic textiles of kotpad in the form of pleats and layers, definitely stood out.

What set this collection apart was the use of layering through various printed materials. Sort of pulling off a boho-esque vibe through separates, the fusion of sarees draped over trousers and shirts was edgy and sexy.

Sheer was all what this collection was about! A Haute trend from Day 1 as well, the delicate dresses and kurtas with intricate florals simply added to the beautiful ‘sheer’ factor.

Sharing the stage this time around, both designers chose boxy, androgynous suits and silhouettes, with tons of layering. A mix of male and female fashion, the monochromatic collections by both pushed the bar that Ashish N Soni set at LFW this season.
