How To: Sonakshi’s Gorgeous Blue Eye Make-Up

By  |

Sonakshi Sinha has never shied away from colour. And honestly, with a complexion like that why would anyone in their right mind not wear colour? Her flawless, mid-tone skin is made for colour, and proof of it is right here. It’s not an easy task to carry off bright, glittery colours without looking flashy, but Sona does it with aplomb. At the recent Zee Cine Awards, Sona wore a rather striking colour — midnight blue eye shadow. Now blue has the tendency to go horribly wrong, but on Sona it looks like she was meant to wear blue all her life.

When wearing a colour like this, it’s very important to keep your skin’s undertone in mind. Blue looks best on people with cool undertones. To know what your undertone is, read this handy guide. If you have a cool undertone, go ahead and flaunt this colour. If you have a warm undertone, opt for a minimalistic blue eyeliner instead of going the whole hog like Sona.

Want to cop Sona’s look? Here’s how to do it:

Prime: Prep your eyes with e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer. This step is crucial while using bright, bold colours because you don’t want to run the risk of letting your shadow shift or fade away.

Colour Play: If you look closely, you can clearly make out that Sonakshi is wearing a coat of grey over the blue eyeshadow, noticeably in the centre of her eyelids. This sort of diffuses the brightness of her blue shadow. Full marks to her make-up artist for such clever colour play. You can use the top two colours from the 32 Eyeshadow Palette by Makeup Revolution to achieve the same effect. Apply the blue eyeshadow all over the eyelid, going a little above the crease line. Then dust a gunmetal grey eyeshadow in the centre of the eyelids.

Line Them: Use the same blue eyeshadow to line the outer corner of the lower lashline, and the gunmetal grey in the inner corners.

Lashes: Curl your eyelashes with Colorbar Showstopper Eyelash Curler and coat them with Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara. Add a pair of Ardell Runway Gisele Black Eye Lashes and you’re done. Almost.

Groom Your Brows: Brush your eyebrows upwards and outwards and fill it in with Sisley Phyto Sourcils Perfect Eyebrow Pencil and set them in place using Diana of London Aqua Lift Gel Mascara.

Lips: Finish the look with a nude lipstick to keep the focus on the eyes. And there you have it. Perfectly smokey blue eyes!
