Save Vs Splurge: Highlighters To Pop Those Cheekbones

Save Vs Splurge: Highlighters To Pop Those Cheekbones

It’s been about a year now since contouring has been gloriously replaced by strobing, and the ideal way to carry out this technique is by highlighting. The beauty industry has a host of amazing products to help you get that natural shimmer and shine — powders, creams, mousses…the works! So if you aren’t aware about the process of highlighting, it is basically a technique where you add product to your skin where the light hits it naturally. Containing a bit of shine, highlighters usually add that glowing pop to your face! So where do you apply the product? Dust it on the areas of your face that you want to draw attention to — for example, your cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow, inner corners of your eyes, and the tip of your nose. For us here at Hauterfly, we love ourselves a little mix, and the type of highlighter/bronzer that we swear by has got to be the tiered brick. With gradated shades of a colour, this highlighting block allows you to swatch on a range of the hue, creating a lovely shaded effect when applied.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick_SAVE VS SPLURGE_HAUTERFLY

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Bronze (Rs 3,350)

Bobbi Brown is a name synonymous with its amazing quality of makeup, and one of its bestselling classic cult products has got to be the Shimmer Brick in Bronze. As you can see, the brick has 5 shades of a similar colour, with a subtle sheen to each. The best part about having 5-in-1 is that you can control the colour that you get, depending on which one you concentrate your brush on. The most significant part about any makeup product is its colour payoff, and Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick shades are amazing when swatched on. The consistency of the powder is rather sheer, which is what you would want when creating that ‘natural’ shine. The shimmer adds a beautiful glow to the skin and the bronze tone creates a lovely warm effect on the face too — working perfectly for Indian skintones. It might be on the pricier side of the highlighting life, but in terms of quality, the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick will definitely not let you or your face down!

Revlon Highlighting Palette in Bronze Glow (Rs 896)

When it comes to makeup, we always love to find a dupe. I mean, obviously we aren’t going to get the amazing quality that a a higher-priced companion offers, but if it gets the job done in a similar manner you have us sold. Similarly, the Revlon Highlighting Palette in Bronze Glow is the ideal equivalent of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. With 5 shades in this product as well, the colours in this palette are more varied, allowing a wider choice when it comes to choosing what works best for you. The sheerness between the 2 brands does vary, with the former being more sheer. However, the colour payoff is pretty much alike in terms of pigmentation when swatched on. If you are still looking to highlight on a budget and want a similar effect to the Bobbi Brown Brick, then don’t give Revlon’s highlighting palette a miss!
