Reviewed: Lakmé 9 to 5 Lip And Cheek Colour
When Lakmé says 9 to 5, they definitely mean it — their motto of ‘no touch-ups’ is so evident in their new lip and cheek colour. The major selling point of this product is its dual purpose formula that doubles up as a lip tint as well as a blush. Now we’ve all secretly and not-so-secretly used our bright lipstick as a blush, which usually gives off a rather clown-look vibe, and not the kind that blends into perfect contouring. Let’s start with the pigmented formula of this product — the mousse texture applies smoothly onto both your lips and cheeks. So it does pigment onto your lips, and when blended onto the cheeks, the colour blends so easily into the skin.
I am a matte lip fan and am not particularly in love with glossy or satin shades, to be very honest. But I have realised that any matte finish, no matter what the brand or colour is, usually dries your lips out a tad bit (which I usually ignore). However, the mousse-like texture sort of locked in a bit of moisture for me, not making my lips feeling crusty or crepe-ey. The formula is also light on both the lips and skin. As I mentioned above, the colours are super pigmented and come in 10 different shades, my personal favourite being the ‘Coffee Light’ (you know my love for nudes).
And lastly, let’s get to the brand’s no touch-up required motto! Okay, so this is basically what had me sold. Long-lasting and how — tried, tested, and approved, this product, believe it or not, lasted me the entire workday and more. Sustaining through 3 meals and ounces of coffee and water, I was thoroughly impressed. Lip colours usually wear off from inside the lips, but this stain remained in place, as pigmented as it was when I applied it in the morning. Talk about taking the slogan seriously.
All in all, this product has got our thumbs-up — I mean, what can be better than a compact little tube, that acts as both a lip and cheek colour?
