Pantone’s Colour Of The Year Will Give You Some Spring/Summer Inspiration
The Pantone Colour of the Year this time around is a refreshing shade of lush green — I don’t think any other colour would be able to scream spring/summer more than this one. Describing the colour as a “zesty yellow-green that evokes the first days of spring”, Pantone has suggested that it signals shoppers like you and I to keep calm and relax. It isn’t the first time ‘Greenery’ has taken the forefront in the fashion industry — we’ve spotted the colour trending at the Spring/Summer 2017 shows that were held in September, with Robert Geller, Prada, and Gucci adopting the hue in their creations as well.
So why this particularly shade of green then? The Pantone Colour Institute states that in today’s world full of stress, the colour is supposed to invoke that sense of zen and chi within consumers and give you an essence of renewal. Great for the mind, but is it something we are looking forward to sporting in the world of fashion and beauty? Well, that’s a tricky one! The blend of yellow and green is rather peculiar to wear on an everyday basis now, isn’t it. As much as I like the colour by itself, it doesn’t quite scream high-fashion to me. Unlike the colours of the past, this colour is a little jarring. However, if you are the kind that likes that bold element in your wardrobe, then go ahead, by all means you can pull this one off!
In terms of styling, the green would look nice when paired with something less bold and a lot more subtle…just to balance off the colour. So with respect to ‘Greenery’ and, of course, its aim, scroll down to see what you can find in-store and online that pays tribute to our colour of the year.
