Bushra’s Creamy Concealer Glides On Like A Dream
While there’s no substitute for maintaining a good skincare regimen, staying hydrated, and getting enough shuteye, the internet — and more so Instagram — has me convinced that there’s absolutely no beauty problem that can’t be solved with the aid of make-up.
For the longest time, I only invested in eye, lip, and cheek products because I heart colour. However, I’ve been consciously taking a step back from these products and investing more time in researching products that create a flawless base. I now spend considerable time swatching foundations, primers, and concealers in make-up aisles. Trust me when I say this, it takes all of my self-control to pull myself away from the more colourful (and interesting) eye pencils and lipsticks, and steer myself towards the somewhat drab (but more important) base make-up section.
Until I went to beauty school I thought that although base make-up was something that would definitely make a difference to my routine, it wasn’t something I really couldn’t live without. I couldn’t have been more delusional. One of the toughest skills to hone is to conceal like a champ. When done right, it can take your look to a whole new level. So I’ve been coveting the NARS Creamy Concealer ever since Vogue India’s Beauty Editor Nidhi Sharma extolled its virtues in a recent article for us. However, at over 2k a pop, it’s a little out of my reach. So you can imagine my delight when my niece introduced me to its dupe — Maybelline New York’s Fit Me Concealer!
This super creamy concealer comes with a doe-foot applicator and offers medium coverage that can be built up. The smooth, liquid consistency allows your skin to breathe no matter how much you layer it. All you have to do is dab a tiny dot or two in the areas that need spot concealing or in your under eye region, let it sit or bake for a few minutes and then blend with the tip of your ring finger to get flawless coverage. You can also use a cosmetic sponge to further blend it. Priced at about one fourth of the original, this concealer is as good as it gets!
