How Chic Is Malaika’s Fashion-Forward Pony Bun?

The turnout at Vikram Phadnis’s 25th anniversary fashion show was stellar, to say the least. And while we spent a good hour scrutinising celeb outfits and looks at Hauterfly HQ, it was Malaika Arora Khan’s hair that really caught my eye. Five seconds into sleuthing on her Insta handle and I chanced upon this beauty.

I’m in love with this pretty spin to the traditional glossy, sleek ponytail that Hiral Bhatia of BBlunt has done. I was pretty sure I had seen this look on the ramp. Some more sleuthing got me to Victoria Beckham’s Fall 2015 show at New York Fashion Week last year.

Often times, a lot of hair and beauty ideas look kickass on the ramp but wearing them IRL, not so much. This pretty pony bun though should work for a regular day at college or work just as well as it works on the ramp or the red carpet. Here’s how you can recreate Malaika’s fashion forward ponytail:

1. Thoroughly apply TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protective Spray making sure you cover each hair from root to tip to protect them from heat damage.

2. Use Conair Flat Iron 2 Ceramic Straightener to flat iron your hair and then seal the style while adding high-intensity shine with a few drops of Kerastase Nutritive Serum Oleo-Relax.

3. Secure your hair into a mid-rise ponytail with a hair tie. Create a loop by not pulling the ponytail through the hair completely.

4. Use a strand of hair from your ponytail to wrap around the hair tie to conceal it.

5. Mist hair with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hair Spray to hold the style in place and you’re done!
