The New Lip Colour That Zahra *Definitely* Doesn’t Own!

The New Lip Colour That Zahra *Definitely* Doesn’t Own!

Now if there’s anything you know about the #HauteSquad, it’s that we’re all beauty junkies. We love discovering cool new products to share with you, swatching them in the office and trying out fun looks with all the amazing stuff that get sent to us every month (perks of the job!). And among the new launches I’m totally crushing on right now is MAC’s new Liptensity Lipstick range.

The range has been created in collaboration with Maureen Seaberg, a Tetrochromat — which means she has the genetic ability to see up to 100 million more shades than the rest of us (who can only see about 1 million). She worked closely with MAC to create 24 shades that are as pigmented and true to colour as possible. And trust me when I say that it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen, own, or will find in other makeup brands.

And considering a classic red lipstick is a staple in every beauty junkie’s makeup kit, I was thrilled to see a bunch of amazing red hues in the range (the nudes are totally to-die-for too). And the one I’m living for right now is Mulling Spices. The burgundy brown-red hue is vibrant beyond belief and a striking, true red!

MAC Liptensity Lipstick in Mulling Spices

The Liptensity range is MAC’s most pigmented one to date so that explains the extreme colour intensity; it’s designed to be so pure in colour that it will flatter pretty much every skin tone. The colour fidelity in the product means the colour you see in the tube is the colour you will get on the lips — and that’s saying something.

The gel formula is luxurious and glides on super smooth, drying down to a satin-y finish in just one swipe. It’s texture is similar to MAC’s Cremesheen lipsticks but richer and thicker, and slightly more glossy. The lipstick wears incredibly well, staying even and comfortable, lasting upto 5 hours through eating and drinking. What’s more, it’s incredibly moisturising too. Just one layer is enough for full opacity with great colour pay-off. However, it does transfer a lot so you’ve got to be careful with that.

The packaging is also new unlike MAC’s usual black tubes. The Liptensity tubes are taller and thinner, with luxe colour-coded caps (finally!) in matte metal, so you don’t have to read the labels on the bottom of the tubes any longer. The bullets inside are also flat-topped, which I personally find easier to use. The only constant is the signature MAC vanilla smell, which remains intact.

These new lipsticks are intense, moisturing, and unique, so I can guarantee they’re going to be a huge hit this holiday season — even though they’re on the pricier side!
