#HauteList: The Best Beauty Launches Of 2016
There’s never a dull day in Beautyville. There are tons of products hitting the shopping aisles Every. Single. Day. Products that promise nothing but the best, begging you to upgrade your beauty game. While a true-blue beauty junkie will swear that it takes nerves of steel to not wilfully go bankrupt, one has to ask the pertinent question: are these products worth the hype? That’s where we come in. In our monthly Best of Beauty series, we go through the process of rounding up some of the best new releases in skincare, haircare, makeup, the works. We sift through the gimmicks and tall claims, and present to you products that definitely live up to the hype. So ending 2016 with a beautiful bang, here are the top beauty launches the year has seen.
1. Lancôme Grandiôse Liner (Rs 2,400)*
The liquid liner along with its bendy applicator is an apt tool to get that perfect winged liner. With a twistable tip that swivels all round, you don’t need to twist and turn your arms and fingers in order to achieve evenly lined eyes. The formula is super pigmented and comes in two colours — blue and black. A winged eye couldn’t be easier to pen out now!
*Available at Lancôme counters across India.
If you’re looking to super lift your lashes, then this product will be ideal for you. You wouldn’t have to use a curler and accidentally pull out your precious strands; instead this mascara sort of creates that false lash effect that uplifts and brightens your eyes instantly. Flutter away, girls!
The yogi of mascaras, the new innovation by M.A.C. does all the bending for you, so that you don’t have to get yourself in a twist! The really bendable wand allows the product to get into every nook and cranny of your lashes, leaving them volumised and lengthened. So now your eyelashes are going to get the full-coverage they need!
I am aware that M.A.C. is known for its range of lip colours; however, the all-new Lipintensity range from the most-loved brand is so much more pigmented than the usual ones. With a name like Lipintensity, you know that the product will come with a crazy intense colour; however, it also moisturises your lips. The gel formula easily glides across, provided an almost satin sheen to the finish. The brand has impressed us with their lip range, once again!
The second addition to The Nudes Palette, Maybelline’s Blushed Nude eyeshadows is a combination of subtler shades. A saver to the Huda Beauty Eye Shadow palette, this contains beautiful neutral hues that allow for pretty pigmented shades! With a range of 12 colours in it, this eyeshadow palette is one of the best shadow releases of the year and, if you haven’t bought it…what are you waiting for?
A concept that is relatively new to the beauty world, the sleeping mask is an innovation that will save you so much time! The Body Shop Sleeping Mask is one that’s an overnight product that exfoliates your skin through the night. Acting like a night cream, this product soaks into the skin leaving it soft and supple! Enriched with Edelweiss stem cells, it intensely moisturises and hydrates your skin.
7. MAC Good Luck Trolls Beauty Powder (Rs 2,450)*
This limited edition beauty powder is one that I have raved about since its launch. Acting like a highlighter, this product is literally suited for every skin tone. Just a dab of it on your cheekbones, and it shimmers and shines, making your skin glow naturally. Not too loud in terms of pigmentation either, this beauty powder is a must-have from this year’s beauty launches.
*Available at MAC counters and stores across India.
8. Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Mask + Scrub (Rs 3,250)
Don’t we all love a dual-purpose product that will work instantly on our skin? Well, it is established that charcoal works wonders for detox, but this duo of mask plus scrub just takes the cake. When you spend most of your time fighting grime and pollution, the miracle in a tube will be an absolute saviour for you.
If you are looking for a high-tech way to apply your foundation, then search no more. This cushion foundation stick is basically your applicator and product in one little cylindrical tube. The formula polishes and provides an even skin tone, along with being completely weightless! Providing a nude but not naked finish, it also leaves a lovely hydrated glow on your face.
It’s the year of peels, people, and amongst all of them, this one stands out to be the best. For skin types that cannot take the abrasive methods of exfoliation, a peel is ideal. Quinoa was a trendy and healthy food last year, so what’s stopping you from applying it on your face? With husk extracts from it, this product accelerates skin cell turnover, revealing rather radiant-looking skin.
11. Lancôme Cushion Foundation (Rs 3,600)*
A product I can vouch for, the formula in this foundation is nothing less of a miracle. The cushion allows for minimal amount of formula to seep out, making wastage less and also proves that a little amount can go a long way. Full coverage, without making your skin look cakey or dry, this cushion keeps your skin hydrated all day.
*Available at Lancôme stores across India
If you’re looking for a multi-purpose makeup product that is within your budget, then the Lakmé mousse is spot-on. The lightweight formula allows you to use it as a lip colour as well as a cheek tint. It is easily blendable, making it very subtle and light on your skin. And I can vouch for the fact that when you wear it on your lip, it pretty much lasts the entire day. This is a product through which you can totally get your money’s worth.
