Hair Trends That Will Be BIG In 2016

Hair Trends That Will Be BIG In 2016

2015 was quite an eventful year that was dominated mostly by the shaggy, textured lob. The pretty pastels, and beautiful granny greys from summer were quickly replaced by hand pressed colour and galaxy hair. Thankfully, these weren’t mere fads but actual trends that both celebs and civilians were found sporting. So it is only normal to wonder what 2016 has in store. Here’s what we think will be making waves this year:

Bold Haircuts

2015 has been refreshing. It was as much about going natural and embracing and loving your natural texture as it was about letting go of our lengths. Indian women and their obsession with long hair, sigh! This year will be about taking things a notch higher with bolder haircuts. Cheekbone grazing, vintage-inspired bob cuts a la Coco Chanel will be big in 2016. Wear it straight or in a natural wavy texture.

Natural Colour

Hot pinks and acid greens have had their moment in 2015, but it’s time to bid them goodbye. We are over bright, candy-coloured, artificial-looking hair. Natural colours will dominate 2016. Healthy looking hair leaning towards found-in-nature hues will be the next big thing.

Bronde

Rocking platinum blonde is not everyone’s cup of tea, which is why bronde was a highly sought after colour in 2015 and will continue to be so in 2016 as well. And why shouldn’t it be? With its soft, unorganised highlights, it’s a universally flattering colour. It is the perfect go-to for blondes who want to go darker, and brunettes who want to go lighter without looking unnatural.

The Wob

2015 was definitely about going shorter, and 2016 will be no different. But expect it see the wob or rather the wavy bob more often. The textured, lived-in look is chic, understated elegance. It is also a break away from the severe poker straight bob that has been favoured for long.

Babylights and Balayage

2016 will see the trend of bronde, balayage and babylights gaining strength. Let’s just admit it, they are far easier to maintain than fashion colours like candy pinks, acid greens, or blue locks, and it’s also something that almost anyone can carry off effortlessly.

Hair Accessories

When Kylie Jenner wore a hair tattoo, the world sit up and took notice. Apart from that we also saw the resurgence of hair accessories on the catwalk in the Spring Summer 2016 shows of a number of designers. Whether it is a subtle sprinkle of tiny gold stars or chunky, bold hair pieces, accessories will show up in a major way in 2016.

Braids

2015 was about loose, Bohemian and overtly artistic braids. While our love affair with braids means they aren’t going anywhere, this year braids will be tighter, and more streamlined. We are talking about braids sharp enough to take to the boardroom. It’s time braids graduated from pop up and music festivals, and 2016 will be that year for the braid!
