Get The Look: Deepika Padukone’s Shimmery Makeup At The 2017 MET Gala

Deepika Padukone, along with Priyanka Chopra, made their debuts on the MET Gala red carpet this year. While I personally loved PC’s outfit (it really stuck with the Comme Des Garcons theme & Rei Kawakubo’s androgynous designs), DP’s, well…not so much. I found it to be ill-fitted and lacking an edge. But I’m just a makeup artist and makeup is my BAE.

Where the beauty department is concerned, I LOVED Deepika’s glistening makeup look. She wore fresh skin, nude lips, and sparkling eyes to perfection. Here’s how you can get her look.

L.A. Girl Pro Coverage Liquid Illuminating Foundation (Rs 1,033)

1. Foundation

Go for a brightening foundation like L.A. Girl’s illuminating one, which gives a light and dewy look without compromising on coverage. The goal is flawless skin! Apply this with a round, buffing foundation brush with tightly packed bristles, instead of opting for a flat foundation brush.

Maybelline New York Fit Me Concealer (Rs 475)

2. Concealer

Conceal visible dark circles, redness, and discolouration around the chin, nose, lip, or forehead with a yellow and peach toned concealer. Dot some around the area and then dab with your middle and ring finger.

#HauteTip: Dab compact or translucent powder with a puff or sponge around your T-zone, where you tend to get oily. Be careful not to apply too much. This will also set the concealer in.

bareMinerals Frame And Define Brow Styler (Rs 985)

3. Brows

Brows are one of the most important features of your face and shouldn’t be missed. First, comb your brows upwards and create a defining line below them with a pencil. Then, trace the hair in the direction of growth because it looks most natural. Make sure not to go below the defining line and try to avoid creating a line above your brows. Avoid creating a box shape in the inner corners of your brows.

Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eyeshadow in Silver Moon (Rs 3,000)

4. Eyes

Oh, don’t I just love this? DP’s makeup artist, Georgie Eisdell, applied a load of silver eyeshadow to her lids. Avoid your crease area and keep it just to the lids. The best way to do this? I suggest you use your fingers! Swipe and dab, dab, dab.

Maybelline New York The Colossal Liner in Black (Rs 340)

5. Liner

She’s got the perfect wing tips that slay! Make like Deepika and stretch a small but sharp wing outwards. Remember to taper the inner corner of your eyes, because liner is meant to define your eyes. Don’t make it one, thick block line.

PAC Eyelashes 53 (Rs 165)

6. Lashes

False lashes are a must for this look. Falsies really frame the face and the eye makeup. Plus, they bring that much-required red carpet drama!

#HauteTip: Do invest in a lash glue to go with the lashes. Glues last for about 10-15 uses. I find black glues the easiest to work with. And don’t forget the mascara when you’re wearing falsies.

M.A.C. Lustre Lipstick in See Sheer (Rs 1,500)

7. Lips

Deepika wore a sheer lipstick that brought out the pink tones of her lip. Keep it super neutral with a semi-gloss, light neutral lipstick.

The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer (Rs 1,399)

8. Contour

Deepika has a chiselled face. We all know this, but a little contour always helps for the cameras. Dust a little matte bronzer in the contours of your cheeks, along your jawline, and on the inner corner of your brows, down the sides of your nose. Brush a little on top of your forehead into your hairline, as well. Use a angled blush or contour brush, and pinch it thin when you’re using it on the side of your nose.
