This Healing Cream Is SO MUCH BETTER Than Your Average BB Cream

This Healing Cream Is SO MUCH BETTER Than Your Average BB Cream

I have to officially admit this now: I am a Korean skincare addict. Not *just* a skincare addict, but a Korean skincare one.

There’s something about all those science-y lotions and potions Korean women use to make themselves look like they’re reverse ageing, no? Makes me wonder why I’ve been so slow to catch on to that bandwagon. But now that I’m on the K-Beauty Express, I am definitely not turning back.

Which brings me to my latest K-Beauty acquisition — Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Re-Cover Derma Green Cure Solution. Also called Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment, this skincare product contains the super-hyped Cica or Centella Asiatica (aka Tiger Grass) as an active ingredient, and let me tell you it has seriously healing properties.

Centella Asiatica is an herb primarily found in Asian countries, and has been used in Eastern medicine for a long, long time. It is rich in saponins, which are like nature’s detergents, and have been shown to calm irritated skin and heal wounds. In fact, stories go that tigers in India would actually roll around in this grass to heal their battle scars — hence the name “tiger grass”.

Dr.Jart’s Cicapair promises to cover redness, blemishes and sensitivity from mild rosacea, eczema, and acne, and also protects the skin from ageing and harmful UV rays. This pot of green goop has already achieved cult classic status for its superpower ability to change colour from pale green to beige and cancel out redness, apart from the addition of physical sunscreen (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) to protect your skin.

A subtle foundation, sunscreen, and skin protector all rolled in one? Now that’s a seriously cool multitasker!

If you suffer from mild rosacea and/or hormonal acne, you’re going to love this stuff. It works amazingly well to reduce redness, and despite being quite thick and not easy to spread, it does not make your skin greasy. I have oily skin and I do have to blot it after a few hours, but the cream hasn’t broken me out. If anything, it has really helped to calm my skin and reduce inflammation.

If you have dry skin, consider using a hydrating moisturiser first before this cream, as it does have a tendency to stick to dry flakes on the skin’s surface.

Think of it like a tinted moisturiser or BB cream, except that it is green. But don’t worry about looking like The Hulk. As you massage the green product gently all over your face, it melts into your skin and adapts to your colour, reducing redness quite dramatically.

It’s more skincare than makeup, and makes your skin look naturally pretty. Wear it on no-makeup days with a little concealer (you’ll need concealer to cover blemishes or dark circles) for a more even looking complexion, or under your favourite foundation if you cannot do without coverage. And thanks to the SPF 30, I don’t bother with another layer of sunblock anymore.

I’ve found it especially effective on acne or hormonal breakouts. I recently used it on a painful breakout near my lower lip, and it literally made the zit disappear in 2 days flat. It’s not magic, but certainly comes close to that.
