#Cannes2016: Best Beauty Looks From Day 1
I must admit that I don’t watch 90 per cent of the movies that release every year. But when the the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 11, I was as excited as the next movie buff. Why? Because Cannes = pwetty celebs in exquisite hair and make-up, duh!
Here’s who caught our attention on Day 1:
It would be convenient to attribute Blake Lively’s lovely skin and those to-die-for locks to pregnancy glow, but that would be a gross injustice to her natural prettiness. There’s no going wrong with lashings of mascara, coral lips, and beachy waves.
Mascara seemed to be a mandate, and why shouldn’t it be when the results are this pretty? However, I want to draw your attention to Balfe’s braided updo. The deep side part with fanned Dutch braids coiled into an updo are the ultimate in feminine chic.
Ladies, this here is a lesson in how to do strobing right in summer. Anna Kendrick’s champagne-coloured iridescent highlighter on the high points of her cheeks, down the bridge of her nose, and in the inner corners of her eyes looks exceptional.
We knew that the lob was going nowhere. Case in point: Jessica Chastain. Her long bob is styled such that it looks stylishly disheveled. I wish I could get my hair to look like that!
Lily Donaldson is wearing two big trends at the same time — dark lips and a choker. Seen extensively at Coachella, this is how to make a festival-worthy look work for the red carpet.
Wearing her tresses in a fresh blow dry, Julianne Moore opted for simple sophistication with soft smokey eyes.
Kirsten Dunst opted for an elegant updo to go with her amazingly done smokey eyes and contoured cheekbones.
Sometimes less is more, and Doutzen Kroes is testimony to that. She wore a very minimalist look with her half-up-half-down hairstyle.
We know Kristen Stewart is a bad ass, she clearly doesn’t give a damn about rules. So whoever said you must pick one feature and make it the highlight of your look can take a hike since she’s rocking strong eyes with bright lips like the rockstar that she is.
When in doubt, bring out the falsies! Eva Longoria rocks glossy, nude lips with illuminated skin and pretty peepers.
If there is a right way to do gold, this is it. I am in awe of Bella Hadid’s lit from within glow, and those killer cheekbones! Le sigh!
A flirty flick of a winged tip eyeliner, nude lipstick, and hair pinned back in princess-y twists looked really pretty on Eva.
Sticking to the neutral palette for her makeup was a good decision to let her shimmery Versace number stand out.
Leaving her shoulder-length hair loose, Kirsten looked stunning in mascara and bright red lipstick.
