The Best Hairstyles From The American Music Awards 2016
All of music royalty descended upon the American Music Awards 2016 last night, and everything from the performances and awards to the red carpet was nothing short of epic! While we’re still reeling from Chrissy Teigan’s higher-than-ever slit, we set our sights a little higher up north.
Sure, the clothes were all fantastic, but it was all the cool hairstyles we spotted on the carpet that had our full attention. Major props to the hairstylists for thinking out of the box this year and giving the celebs a newer look, and us something to take inspiration from, of course!
Take a look at our favourites from the evening.
The best hairdo on this list belonged to Nina Dobrev. The Vampire Diaries star showed up with braids down the side of her head, but it wasn’t any faux buzz cut. Her hairstylist accentuated her braids with silver paint and just look how well it matches her ear cuff.
Did you ever think a ponytail could look this good? If you look at it, you’ll see it’s a pretty basic, middle-parted ponytail but what really cleans it up well is the strand of hair that’s wrapped around the rubber band — which is a great way to polish up your look.
When it comes to not-so-basic ponytails, Ariana Grande has a lot to offer. She switched it up from her signature half-up-half-down style and tied a super high ponytail with braids. We’re not sure how many extensions are in there, but that’s one looongg ponytail! Here’s a closer look:
Yet another updo worth talking about belonged to Karlie Kloss. A high ponytail, she didn’t tie it with your regular hair elastic. That looks like a velvet ribbon tied to her rubber band and with that hot velvet trend going around, this is a look we can’t wait to try!
She picked an old Hollywood glam look and made it look so good! It might seem pretty simple to do — just put all your hair back with your fingers. But there’s a whole lot that goes into creating it. Think wave spray, possibly some mousse or gel, and a lot of blowdrying to make it look this smooth.
