Who isn’t in love with the weather right now? It’s such a respite from the oppressive heat. But one thing I can’t bring myself to love about this season is the way it wrecks my hair. I love mega-volume but not the kind of frizzy mess that comes with the season. I tried chemically straightening my hair a couple of times to avoid looking like a mangy mutt in the rains. However, I’m all about embracing my natural texture now, even if it means having to deal with frizz every morning. Trying to heat style your hair is futile because of the killer humidity, so I try an assortment of top knots, twists, and braided hairstyles. However, wearing your hair up at all times can get a tad boring. And so it’s best to arm yourself with products that will ensure every rainy day is a good hair day.

Before you rush to get those credit cards out though, remember that fighting frizz should start in the shower. Products meant to combat dryness are generally heavy and offer more control. Also, avoid using a conventional towel to dry your mane post-shower. Rubbing your hair with a towel raises the cuticles and aggravates frizz. Switch your towel with this instead. Let your hair air dry as much as possible and don’t give in to the temptation of heat styling. You will only end up with damaged hair.
