Get Anushka’s Beauty Look From Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
No one can do girl-next-door quite like Anushka Sharma. She’s got a real-girl charm, some serious acting chops, and pore-less skin. Yes, she’s got the kind of pore-less skin that has me feeling a little jelly. But hey, what’s the point of investing half my salary in all that makeup if it doesn’t give me flawless, glowing skin… for at least a few hours? Here’s the easy way to achieve Anushka Sharma’s wholesome, natural makeup look from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I was really inspired by her look in the trailer and if you haven’t already seen it, check it out.
1. Start With A Clean Slate
Try a two-step cleansing routine before you applying your makeup. Opt for a gentle cleanser that’ll leave your skin feeling supple, clean, and hydrated. Then, go over your face with cotton and a water-based alcohol-free makeup remover or toner. A cleanser like the Aviance Hydra Balance Revitalizing Gel is a great option.
2. Moisturizing Primer
Use a primer that moisturises your skin, evens your skin tone, and corrects unevenness. The L’Oréal Paris Base Magique works to achieve all three results. Just mix a drop or two of your SPF with your primer if you’re recreating this look in the daytime.
Before we move on to the main base, let’s first minimize the appearance of pigmentation. For this, we need to rely on correctors. Invest in two correcting concealers (not the same thing as regular concealer): one peach/orange shade and one yellow shade. Use a sponge to dab a peach or orange shade on dark circles. Opt for peach if you have mild dark circles and a starker orange if your dark circles are heavily pigmented. Use yellow to cover inflamed skin, acne, and purple tones. Apply the correctors in a dabbing motion for the best coverage. Buying a small corrector palette like Bonjour Paris Professional Corrector Palette, so you can pick and choose the shades according to your skin.
4. The Base
To mimic Anushka Sharma’s skin in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, opt for a BB Cream instead of foundation. Her skin looks makeup-free and fresh. Once you’ve applied the corrector, cover your face with a pro BB Cream, like the LA Girl HD Pro BB Cream. It’s got the right amount of coverage to cancel out the orange and yellow of your colour corrector, but it retains the freshness of your skin.
5. Matte Bronzer
Anushka most certainly isn’t flaunting a fully contoured face. Neither is she wearing any blush, but here’s a little makeup secret: always add dimension to your face if you want flawless skin. So, a little bronzer will do the trick. Use a fluffy, angled brush to apply a bronzer like The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder. It’s got a natural finish, so add some to the hollows below your cheekbone, along the hairline on your forehead, and on your jawline.
Anushka’s eyes are the only feature that make a statement in this look. Try a long-lasting, bold kajal, like the Lakmé Eyeconic kohl pencil. Apply some in your waterline and on your lower-lash line for a smudged effect. Add some on your eyelids along your lash line too. This should be, deliberately, a little messy. Don’t apply a clean line. To smudge it out even more, use a small dome-shaped brush to blend the kohl. Lastly, apply some in your upper waterline to tight-line your eyes.

She doesn’t have bold lashes, so go for mascara that isn’t too clumpy. The Natio Maxiumum Curl Mascara will work wonders for this look. Your lashes will look full and curled, without looking too thick.
Anushka looks like she doesn’t have any lipstick on in ADHM. You can achieve the same look by going for a colour that is similar to your natural colour that is on the inner part of your lips. Apply this shade with a free hand. You don’t need a brush or a lip liner. Make sure the color is semi-matte. The Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Colors in Blue Raspberry and Italian Rose work well as flesh-tones for brown girls!
