Get The Look: Alia’s Fresh Face Is All The Makeup You Need Right Now
Party season is pretty much dying down at the moment, and as much as we loved cramming all the beauty trends of the year into a month of power-packed parties, it’s now time to rest that skin and give all that boldness a break — at least for the next couple of weeks. Give up the severe contouring, the overdone shading, and loud lip-stains! Of course, a smokey eye or a red lip would still look amazing for something more dressy (they’re classics for a reason), but sometimes you just need to go back to basics and keep things barely there. So going by the motto of less is more, Alia Bhatt’s minimalist makeup is ideal, post this crazy boogie fever.
Giving you that sort of no-makeup look, the colours have been kept subtle and nude, making her skin glow. Something you can wear at any point, for any occasion, Alia’s fresh face is something you need this season. Just remember to keep everything au naturel.
It’s not about the base with this look. Remember that even a little product can go a long way, so do not, AND I MEAN DO NOT, douse your face in a whole lot of foundation. Prep your skin with a primer that leaves a slight sheen on your skin. With your beauty blender, dab a little bit of foundation, preferably a product that hydrates your skin and leaves it looking moisturised. Make sure you are using one that’s base isn’t too oily, or else your skin will look extremely shiny and sticky looking — and that’s not what we want, is it? If it is a bit too shiny, dust on a tad bit of powder, like L’Oreal Paris’ True Match Mineral.

Once you’re done applying the base, swipe on an illuminator or highlighter on your cheekbones. Do not contour — simply highlight and strobe the areas that are hit naturally by light. Using a blush, lightly swoosh the subtle pigment across the apples of your cheek — make sure there isn’t too much product residue on your brush before application. This will give that au naturel flush to your pale cheeks.
Again keep the eyes at bay — no eyeshadow, no cat eyeliner, please! If you want to add a little bit of sheen to your eyes, then simply apply a natural-looking primer base on your lids. This will bring out some colour in your eyes, while still maintaining that subtlety. Line your upper lash line with any kajal or kohl pencil — what this does is gives a thin line on the top of your lid, while not being too obvious. Coat your lashes with volumising and lengthening mascara, and flutter those lids all you want!
For your perfect pout, apply two layers of a nude lip colour, with a hint of peach. Now, if you cannot find a shade that suits you best, don’t be afraid to mix two similar shades and create your own. You want to stick to something of a matte or semi-satin finish, rather than a gloss, though. Line those lips with a similarly nude colour or prep them with a lip primer and apply a shade that matches your skin best. You can either go for something classic, like MAC’s Taupe or try a lip potion like Estée Lauder’s in Extreme Nude. If you’re looking for something within a certain restrictive budget, then why not give Nykaa’s Matte Lipstick in Taupe Thrill a try?
And there you have it! Subtle, pretty and natural, you’re ready to take on your day.
