The Surprise Element In Ash’s Smokey Eye That You Have To See!
There’s is no doubt that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most beautiful women in the world. While we’re sort of on the fence about her sartorial choices, I can’t deny that she always looks like a million bucks in the beauty department.
At a recent event to launch L’Oréal Paris’s Infallible Cannes 2016 collection, Ash wore a heavy smokey eye with a surprising twist: turquoise kohl on her waterline. I think the shot of vibrant blue was a great addition to a look that is otherwise classic.

Like her look? Here’s how you too can wear it:
Prep: Dehydrated skin leads to patchy makeup, so it makes sense to start with a hydrating essence like L’Oréal Paris Hydrafresh Deep Boosting Essence, especially in summer. Follow this with a mattifying primer to ensure that your makeup stays put. MUA Matte Perfect Complexion Balancing Primer works well in this heat.
Base: Use Natio Invisible Blend Foundation for a flawless, matte finish. Apply L’Oréal Paris True Match Concealer to spot conceal and also brighten the undereye area. Use a coral shade from the Peach and Baked Freedom Pro Blush Palette only on the apples of the cheeks. Apply with a very light hand to add just a wash of colour. The focus has to be on the eyes so the blush is used merely to warm up the complexion.
Eyes: Aishwarya has a grey-black smokey eye going on, which looks so beautiful. And the blending, let’s not even go there because it’s Blending Level: Pro! This look deserves to go down as #BlendingGoals, people.
Mix the silvery grey and mauve-grey shades from Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow palette all over the eyelid going right up to the crease and also below the lower lashline. Apply Inglot Freedom System AMC Eye Shadow Square Shine in Shade 35 on the browbone. Blend the two colours such that there are no harsh lines. Apply the darkest shade from Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow palette along the lashline and blend it upwards. Apply the same shade in the outer corner as well and blend well.
So far, everything is a classic smokey eye but here’s where the fun begins. I absolutely love the turquoise used on her upper and lower waterline. For a fun and surprising element use Maybelline Colossal Kohl in Turquoise on both waterlines. Add lashings of Inglot False Lash Effect Mascara.
Lips: I like how Aishwarya hasn’t gone the nude route as is custom when wearing a dark smokey eye. The dusty pink gives just the right amount of colour without looking overwhelming. You can apply Sugar Vivid Matte Lipstick in Breaking Bare and top it with Colorbar Deep Matte Lip Creme Deep Rose.
