5 Must-Try Weight Loss Tips From Bollywood Stars
Sometimes it seems like celebrities are some other-worldly creatures, with the super sexy outfits they manage to pull off and the abs they seem to Instagram. But, here’s a little secret: they’re human, just like the rest of us. So, if they can do it, then we can too!
Now you’ve probably heard that abs are made in the kitchen, right? Well, a fit bod takes a whole lot of exercise, but nutrition and diet play a big role in how you feel, look, and in getting you to drop those pounds, of course. And who better to take notes from than your favourite stars?
From Alia Bhatt to Deepika Padukone, here’s what the diet of famous Bollywood celebrities look like.
P.S. No crash diets involved.
1. Sonam Kapoor
Of course, Sonam was going to be on this list, right? She is fabulous! Here’s why. Sonam believes in eating every 2 hours, if done in moderation.
If you’re craving chocolate every few days, eat it, but make sure you don’t eat a whole bar or even half. Try enjoying the moment, eating slowly, but limiting yourself to about 2 small pieces. When Sonam gets hungry between meals, she fills herself with small portions of dry fruit and nuts.
2. Shahid Kapoor
Shahid believes in eating a vegetarian diet for the mind, body, and soul. He believes they’re all connected. So, he ensures his meals are high in vegetarian sources of protein, so he can continue building muscle at the gym.
Shahid avoids junk and unnecessary carbs, but also does not believe in starving himself or overdoing any one food group.
3. Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena is a big believer in making healthy food a lifestyle, instead of a diet. While she does indulge, she has also mastered the art of having patience.
Whether it’s size zero or losing the pregnancy weight, Rujuta Diwekar is her trusted dietician. Rujuta put Kareena on a diet where she gets to eat plenty, but eat right in order to get the nourishment a a new mother needs. She suggests eating dairy (preferably from an organic source without hormones, like your local tabela). Dairy has short chain fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid that are important, especially after pregnancy, for calcium and stubborn weight loss. Rujuta also suggests eating sesame, ghee, bajra, and coconut for pure forms of iron. Of course, portion control is super important too.
4. Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt is another actor that truly believes in her dietician, Rujuta Diwekar. In fact, she said in an interview that she and Kareena often discuss the positive effects that their nutritionist has had in their life. Rujuta believes that we are vilifying a lot of good carbs and fats that are necessary for our body.
Alia, like Kareena, believes that bingeing on junk once in a while is okay and follows strict portion control. Rujuta has taught her to control portions, eat local, and concentrate on nutrients over weight loss. So, Alia turns to quintessential Indian foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner: like poha, idli, daal chawal, and little aachar for improved digestion. Whenever she travels, she tries eating whatever is native or local to that country.
5. Deepika Padukone
Deepika loves her South Indian Food, so she switches up her grains every now and then, adding things like quinoa or amaranth to the mix, instead of pure rice. She also follows tips like skipping out on the potato filling and using healthy alternatives.
For Deepika, drinking oodles of water and having a positive outlook on life is the most important tip!
