3 Major Eye Makeup Trends We Spotted At The 2017 Oscars

By  |

As I sat there, clicking through the red carpet pictures from the 2017 Academy Awards this morning, I couldn’t stop thinking about how quickly the year flew by. Here we are again, counting down trends from yet another award function. Correction, this isn’t just any award function, it’s the OSCARS! Internationally, the awards season comes to sort of a close with this celebration of art and film. Speaking of art, I’m just as excited this year to countdown the hottest beauty trends on the red carpet, as I was last year, and the year before that! So let’s get started? Grab some popcorn and welcome to the movies!

1. Extended Eyeliner

Good ol’, classic winged liner and bold cat liners ruled the red carpet at the Oscars 2017, last night.

Jessica Biel had 3 statement parts of her look — the dress, that Tiffany’s necklace, and the bold liner! It takes a true diva to pull off thick liner like that.

Felicity Jones showed up looking like the gorgeous girl-next-door, with rosy pink lips and pretty winged liner.

Salma Hayek Pinault flaunted a bold liner with a smoked out wing, paired with a plum shadow, and wow-worthy lashes.

Alicia Vikander also wore a winged liner, but in her signature subtle way — super thin liner and neutral makeup. This look, though, is giving me life!

Busy Philips rocked an emerald green liner to match her dress. Unlike most, she went for a squared-off tip.

2. Monotone Eyeshadow

Who’s got time to sit and blend 50 eyeshadow shades to create the perfect eye makeup look? I know I don’t and now, I don’t have to! Guess what’s trending? The monotone eyeshadow — take one color and sweep it across your lids, then use the same colour on your lash line to finish off the look.

Naomi Harris slays in a monotone, rose-coloured eye shadow look.

And trust Olivia Culpo to push the envelope! Her lilac-coloured eyes are everything, right?

Ruth Negga wore a red eye shadow, swept across her eyes, to match her dress.

The Fifty Shades Freed actor, Dakota Johnson, wore a burnt orange eye shadow around her eyes.

3. Shimmer Shadow

Yup, this again. Doesn’t seem like the shimmer shadow trend is going anywhere.

Emma Roberts has her inner corners brightened up with gold, shimmer shadow.
